This three-story house needed an entertainment area that was easy to access from the second floor kitchen and family room.
The impressive woodsy view was an important factor in the construction of the deck: by making it bi-level, we could lower the sight line of the rails from inside the house. The upper level is big enough for an outdoor kitchen and a dining area with a large table, and chairs; a nearby landing leads to a staircase down to the yard.
Three steps down, the lower deck is a conversation area that highlights the view and has a gas fire pit to extend the deck season well into the cooler months. The two levels are separated by a two-sided bench, flanked by end tables and planters.
